  • 1 cup olive or coconut oil (2.4 dl)
  • 3 tablespoons sodium hydroxide
  • 6 1/2 tablespoons distilled water
  • 3 tablespoons aloe Vera gel (fresh or bottled)
  • 15 drops of essential oil (optional)

  • Eye protection during handling of sodium hydroxide

  • Saucepan
  • Glass jar
  • Wooden spoon

How is aloe Vera soap made?

  • Put goggles on your eyes and carefully place the glass jar in the sink.
  • Add sodium hydroxide first and then distilled water.
  • Be careful not to splash.
  • Vapors are emitted from the mixture. Allow the mixture to cool.
  • Keep the fan on or ventilate the room where you work.
  • Now add the olive and coconut oil to the pan on low heat, and when the mixture is slightly on top of 40 degrees (relatively hot), remove it from the stove and mix in the sodium hydroxide and water with a hand mixer.
  • Start mixing slowly, avoiding splashing, and beat the mixture slowly until it is gel-like in composition.
  • Without letting the mixture cool add more aloe vera and essential oils and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a mold and cover it with a towel to retain heat.
  • Allow it to cool completely for 12-24 hours.
  • Once it has cooled, you can remove the soap from the mold.
  • Store the soap in a cool, dry place to harden and ripen, usually for about a month to two and a half months.

Precautions

Handle sodium hydroxide with extreme care and make sure that there are no children or pets near the work area.

Always wear eye protection and gloves as the substance is very corrosive.

If the substance comes into contact with your skin, apply vinegar immediately.

Aloe Vera glycerin soap

An easier way to make aloe Vera soap is to buy glycerin soap, heat it in a water bath, and mix in an aloe Vera gel.

You can then pour the mixture into a mold to get aloe vera glycerin soap.
