Hair is exposed to environmental nuisances almost all the time, which is why it easily absorbs odors (smoke, sweat, etc.). Sometimes you may not be able to wash your hair every day, or you may not want to wash it every day. A good option then is to scent your hair with homemade perfumes.

Read below for tips on making them, and smell your hair conveniently even daily!

Tahitian Monoi oil

Monoi or Tahitian oil is an excellent natural product that can be used on both body and hair. It is obtained by crushing the blooms of the Tahitian daisy species (Gardenia Tahitensis) by mixing them with coconut oil. This blend really creates a particularly exotic scent that is very similar to vanilla.

We recommend this especially in the summer because it not only smells the hair, but it also helps to make it soft, shiny, and in addition, it protects the hair from the sun’s rays. It contains vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, as well as moisturizes and deeply repairs hair.

You don’t need to wear hair masks after washing your hair if you use Tahitian Monoi oil often.

However, we do not recommend this treatment for oily hair types.

Flower waters

Essential oils are recovered from plants by distillation. During the same process, flower water is created. This means that flower water is actually water left over from oil production. It contains the plant’s water-soluble ingredients, trace elements and a small amount of essential oil.

Flower water retains a little floral scent and properties, but is much lighter and not as concentrated as essential oil. At present, they are not very well known, but they have been used therapeutically since ancient times.

In particular, we recommend the following:

  • Orange blossom water : Orange blossom has a very special and seductive scent with relaxing properties. In addition, it regulates the oiling of the scalp.
  • Rosemary Water : Rosemary has always been used in hair health and beauty products as it improves blood circulation, prevents hair loss and regulates scalp problems. It is also a great cleanser with a refreshing and herbal scent.
  • Mint Water : This is the most refreshing of the flower and herb waters. It is perfect in hot weather when the scalp sweats easily. It also helps prevent dandruff formation.

It is absolutely essential that you ensure the quality and purity of your flower water, as there are a lot of artificial essences on the market that are sold as natural products.

Rose flower water

The flower water of the rose is an excellent flower water, the use of which is traditionally a part of Indian culture in particular. It is a delicate and very feminine scent. It balances, revitalizes and is antioxidant. We recommend it for intimate and special situations because it is also a so-called favorite herb.

Concentrated lavender extract

Lavender has a powerful cleansing and relaxing effect. The plants have a delicious aroma. Lavender fragrance can be used very simply to perfume hair by making a concentrate or extract from its flowers.

This perfume is very soft and you can add it several times a day. The fragrance is also suitable for children.

Essential oils

The simplest way to make your own natural hair perfumes is to use the essential oils you like the most. All you have to do is put a few drops of your chosen essential oil in a small amount of water, shake well and spray into your hair. We recommend the following:

  • Fragrance slang: i.e. internationally called Ylang-ylang, has a strong floral scent with a so-called gentle lifting properties (gentle herb).
  • Mandarin : Very sweet and refreshing. Relaxing features that improve mood and increase happiness.
  • Bergamont : Bergamont gives black tea its typical taste. It has a very special aroma with uplifting properties.
  • Jasmine : Soft, delicate and relaxing. Goes well with other fragrances.
  • Lemon : Lemon gives a feeling of purity and freshness and goes perfectly with the aromas of other citrus fruits.

How to use these fragrances

Pour the perfume into a spray bottle and perfume your hair by spraying your prepared perfume at a distance of at least 20 cm. Make sure the scent is evenly distributed throughout the hair without making the hair too wet. You can even rub it a little on your hair or brush it through your hair, spreading it around.

We recommend carrying the hair perfume in a handbag so you can add it to your hair when you are exposed to strong odors.
